Life Extension Suggestions

  • Probiotics: Per label instructions
  • Fish oil (with olive polyphenols): At least 1400 mg/day of EPA and 1000 mg/day of DHA
  • Vitamin D: 5000 – 8000 IU daily, depending on blood test results
  • Glutamine: 1.95 g daily
  • Comprehensive multivitamin: Per label instructions
  • Saccharomyces boulardii: 250 mg twice daily
  • Zinc: 30 mg daily
  • Vitamin C: 500 – 2000 mg daily
  • Natural Vitamin E: 100 – 400 IU alpha-tocopherol and 200 mg gamma-tocopherol daily
  • Vitamin A: 500 IU acetate and 4500 IU beta-carotene daily
  • Vitamin K: 2100 mcg daily; providing K1, MK-4 and MK-7
  • B-Complex vitamins (many of these should be included in high potency multi-vitamin supplements):
    • Thiamine (B1): 75 – 125 mg daily
    • Riboflavin (B2): 50 mg daily
    • Niacin (B3): 50 – 190 mg daily
    • Folate (preferably as L-methylfolate): 400 – 1000 mcg daily
    • Vitamin B6 (preferably as pyridoxal-5-phosphate): 75 – 105 mg daily
    • Vitamin B12: 300 – 600 mcg daily
    • Biotin: 300 – 3000 mcg daily
    • Pantothenic acid: 100 – 600 mg daily
  • Selenium: 100 – 200 mcg daily
  • Iron: 15 – 60 elemental mg daily (depending on ferritin blood test results)
  • Curcumin (as highly absorbed BCM95®): 400 – 800 mg daily
  • Boswellia serrata (as highly absorbed ApresFlex™): 100 mg daily
  • Propionyl-L-Carnitine: 1000 – 2000 mg daily
  • Trans-resveratrol: 100 – 500 mg daily
  • Wormwood; standardized extract: per label instructions
  • Aloe gel: 3 oz twice per day (not the same as aloe juice, which is much more dilute)
  • Soluble fiber: 5 – 15 g per day
  • Melatonin: 0.3 – 5 mg before bed (sometimes up to 10 mg)
  • DHEA: 15 – 25 mg daily for women, and 25 – 75 mg daily for men (depending on blood test results)
In addition, the following blood tests can provide helpful information:

  • C-reactive protein (CRP) (Available in the Male or Female Panel): Assesses systemic inflammation quantitatively
    • Optimal range: Under 1.0 mg/L for women; Under 0.55 mg/L for men
  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR): A functional assessment of the inflammatory tendency of a blood sample
  • Omega Score®: Assesses the blood fatty acid profile
    • Optimal range: Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio < 4:1
  • Vitamin D (25-hydroxy): Assesses vitamin D status
    • Optimal range: 50 – 80 ng/mL
  • DHEA (Available in the Male or Female Panel)
    • Optimal range: 350 – 490 ug/dL for men and 275 – 400 ug/dL for women
  • IgG antibodies: Quantitatively assesses systemic immunoreactivity to foods
  • Cytokine Panel: Assesses levels of the inflammatory mediators interleukin 1B (IL-1b), IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α
  • Ferritin: Assess stored iron status to help detect anemia due to iron malabsorption
  • B12 and Folate: Determines B12 and folate status; useful for detecting anemia
  • Celiac Disease Antibody Screen: Assess for possible celiac disease
